BIT003: Desktop Virtualization Isn’t Easy, Virtualizing the User Helps

Ended on Wednesday 1:45 PM | Room: Blue Theatre | Tracks: Blue Interactive Theatre (BIT) | Level: 200

Speakers

Many consider desktop virtualization to be terminal services 2.0 in the effort department with similar challenges today as there was then. Back in the day, terminal services was a specialist subject with many organizations basing their entire business models on consulting and tools around the topic whereas today it could be considered common or standard technology. With the now prevalence of desktop virtualization and the challenges it present we are fortunate to apply many of the skills that we leant back in the TS days and therefore avoid many of the pitfalls. AppSense will present how user virtualization is essential technology within the desktop virtualization stack and how by having a solid UV layer can overcome many of the desktop virtualization challenges. User virtualization is both a catalyst and enabler of desktop virtualization and while many incorrectly think of the technology as purely user-experience, AppSense will demonstrate there is much more to it.
