Not all applications can be hosted in the cloud. Increasingly, cloud services must provide access to new cloud-based assets as well as support connectivity with existing on-premises resources, such as collaboration, database, and other line-of-business servers. Windows Azure Virtual Network allows you to securely connect computers in your on-premises environment with roles in Windows Azure. It also enables you to join roles to your Active Directory domain for Integrated Windows authentication, DNS name resolution, or other domain-wide maintenance tasks.
